Central Bank of Kosovo financial integration

Overview

The Central Bank of Kosovo (BQK) has transitioned to a permanent liquidity assurance framework by joining EUREP, a Eurosystem mechanism created by the European Central Bank. This move replaces a limited REPO line of up to 100 million euros that was set to expire in January 2027.

Under the new arrangement, the BQK will cooperate with the Deutsche Bundesbank to secure euro liquidity, with individual lines potentially reaching up to 50 billion euros depending on specific conditions and collateral. The mechanism is intended to strengthen the protection of Kosovo’s financial system against external shocks and liquidity issues.
