The Central Java Provincial Government has launched several initiatives to improve public welfare and economic stability. Initially, the province implemented the ‘Speling’ (Mobile Specialist Doctor) program, which brings medical specialists directly to village halls to provide free examinations and treatments for residents in remote areas. This healthcare initiative has since been integrated into a broader development strategy known as ‘Trisula Pembangunan’ (Three Prongs of Development), aiming to improve human resource quality, accelerate economic growth, and reduce poverty. In late September 2026, the province expanded its poverty reduction efforts through the ‘One Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) One Assisted Village’ program. This initiative assigns specific government departments to act as cross-sector coordinators for the most impoverished villages. Vice Governor Taj Yasin Maemoen emphasized the necessity of “precise mapping down to the village and sub-district levels” to ensure data accuracy and targeted assistance. Parallel to these economic efforts, the government is enhancing tuberculosis (TBC) management by equipping 884 community health centers (Puskesmas) with improved diagnostic tools. By October 2026, the province intensified these efforts by designating 421 villages and urban communities as ‘TB Alert Villages’. During health program visits in Jepara, officials observed free screenings including sputum testing, chest X-rays, and laboratory examinations to facilitate active case finding. Current data indicates Central Java has identified 68,617 TB cases, accounting for 65.08 percent of total cases. While 91.76 percent of patients have begun treatment, the success rate for drug-sensitive TB treatment is 84.07 percent, and drug-resistant TB is 79.54 percent. Officials stressed that control requires synergy between central, provincial, and local governments. In mid-October 2026, regional TB elimination efforts gained further momentum. In Jepara, Deputy Health Minister Benjamin Paulus Octavianus praised active screening efforts targeting close contacts of TB patients, noting that 107 out of 161 planned screening locations had been completed.
