Cerro Chapelco in Argentina hosted a significant adaptive skiing clinic from August 22 to August 27, 2026. Developed by Paralympic athlete Enrique Plantey, the Winter Camp included 29 athletes from Argentina, El Salvador, Uruguay, and Chile, aiming to promote inclusive high-performance athletics. Following the clinic, the Chapelco Ski Center announced an extension of its winter season through September 30, contingent upon snow conditions. The center highlighted recent infrastructure upgrades, including a new telecabin, expanded parking, and new equipment rentals, while continuing instructional services for various skill levels. Due to favorable weather and significant snow accumulation in the Andes, several ski resorts in the Neuquén province, including Chapelco, Lago Hermoso, Cerro Bayo, Caviahue, and the Batea Mahuida Snow Park, have extended their operations through the end of September. At Chapelco, located in San Martín de los Andes, the new telecabin can reach the 1,600-meter mark in five minutes. The resort has also introduced over 2,000 pieces of new rental equipment and Smart Lockers for belongings. Special rates are being offered to residents of Neuquén and Río Negro, with continued activities depending on temperature and snow availability.
