Chaco provincial infrastructure and rural development

Overview

Governor Leandro Zdero has initiated several infrastructure projects in the Chaco province aimed at supporting sports, rural sectors, and public services.

In September, the governor announced the construction of a new athlete hostel at the Jaime Zapata sports complex. By October, development expanded to include a new facility for the Consorcios Camineros in Juan José Castelli, serving as a social headquarters and hostel to support the rural road network. During this period, the provincial government also distributed property titles to families in the Güemes department.

Recent efforts have focused on regional upgrades and rural education. In Presidencia Roque Sáenz Peña, the municipality and provincial government are collaborating on paving, LED lighting, and drainage reinforcements. In Villa Ángela, the Nuevo Banco del Chaco branch underwent renovations to modernize electrical, IT, and accessibility systems. Further developments include the inauguration of a multi-sport complex in Icaño and a partnership with the Schoenstatt Virgin Sanctuary Foundation to improve pedestrian access for pilgrims.

To bolster rural education, Governor Zdero has provided equipment and signed assistance agreements for Agricultural Family Schools (EFA). Supported by the Fundación Soy Chaco, this initiative includes supplying the EFA ‘Renacer Campesino’ in Puerto Eva Perón and EFA N° 68 in Cancha Larga to improve student housing and support local agricultural development.

In October 2026, the administration expanded its educational infrastructure focus by inaugurating the renovated Benito Álvarez Indigenous Bilingual Intercultural Public School (N° 4) in Wichí-El Pintado. The project addressed structural deterioration in classrooms and the library for 270 students. The governor indicated that the government is now evaluating the possibility of fully renovating the school’s dormitory, which is currently unfit for use.
