Some regions are also updating musical styles to attract younger generations, such as incorporating J-pop or themed dances in Yuki City, which includes ‘Minion Bon Odori’ for children and ‘Bon Jovi Bon Odori’ for youth.

Newer fusion events are also emerging to bridge generational gaps. In Osaka, the comedy duo Mitorizu hosted a ‘karaoke Bon Odori’ style event that drew approximately 3,000 attendees. Similarly, Tama City is hosting ‘Seiseki Bon Disco,’ which combines traditional dance with 1970s and 80s disco music and DJ sets to create a cross-generational community experience.
