Chase has implemented several updates to its credit card portfolio, focusing on fee structures and reward incentives. A primary change involves the no-annual-fee Chase Freedom Flex, which now waives foreign transaction fees and features a new card design. This card also includes a ‘Points Boost’ for specific hotel bookings via the Chase Travel portal and earlier access to quarterly bonus categories. Further developments include the rollout of targeted sign-up bonuses for various products. While standard public offers exist, some customers have reportedly received elevated bonuses, such as 175,000 points for the Chase Sapphire Reserve following $6,000 in spending, 125,000 points for the Chase Sapphire Preferred, and a $300 bonus for the Chase Freedom Unlimited. New Freedom Flex cardholders may also be eligible for a $250 bonus after spending $500 within the first three months. Recent updates have also affected legacy and travel reward products. The IHG Select card, which has maintained a $49 annual fee since 2018, is expected to undergo a refresh that includes increasing the annual fee to $99 and adjusting the free night certificate, which may be valued at up to 50,000 points by 2027.
