Cherno More football club internal challenges

Overview

In late September 2026, Cherno More participated in a friendly match against Dunav Ruse, winning 1-0. Following the match, head coach Ilian Iliev addressed squad management, noting that certain players were training with the team due to injuries and that the club was currently unable to sign new players.

By late October, the situation shifted toward internal club tension and poor sporting results. Iliev issued a statement taking full responsibility for the team’s performance, admitting the squad was not meeting expectations. He revealed that he had considered resigning twice during the crisis but ultimately decided to stay to assist the club. Iliev stated that the team must improve over the next six matches to avoid the ‘danger zone’ by the end of the season.
