Chhattisgarh has initiated several railway expansion projects to improve regional connectivity. Initial developments included the inauguration of new services connecting Raipur to Rawghat and Kurud, alongside the opening of the Tadoki-Rawghat line and the Abhanpur-Kurud broad gauge line. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai noted that these projects aim to assist commuters and students by reducing travel times. Following these launches, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced further sanctioned infrastructure projects. These include the construction of additional railway lines from Katni and Shahdol to Pendra Road, and from Pendra Road to Bilaspur, as well as a third line from Champa to Korba. Two new major corridors have also been sanctioned to run north and south of the existing Jharsuguda–Bilaspur–Gondia route, which officials expect could allow for at least 100 additional trains to operate. Expanding on these connectivity efforts, three new train services are scheduled for inauguration on October 20. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai will flag off these services during ceremonies held at the Raipur and Raoghat railway stations to provide more travel options for passengers within the state.
