The Chihuahua Mobility Cluster, formerly the Chihuahua Automotive Cluster, has launched a new industrial strategy to diversify the state’s economic landscape. The initiative aims to expand into ten segments, including electromobility, heavy transport, agricultural machinery, and equipment for mining and construction. President Jorge Alberto Charles Madrigal stated the transformation focuses on moving beyond manufacturing toward design, integration, and programming to address electrification and automation. In support of these goals, the Chihuahua Secretariat of Innovation and Economic Development (SIDE) is actively seeking international investment. Officials recently presented the state’s industrial offerings to 25 Pegatron supplier companies during a seminar in Taipei, Taiwan. This ‘Invest in Chihuahua’ strategy highlights competitive advantages such as the Shelter model and the San Jerónimo Economic Development Pole, while noting the upcoming 2026 USMCA review as a factor for regional planning. Expanding on these efforts, the Government of Chihuahua recently concluded a series of four seminars in Taiwan titled ‘Invest in Chihuahua’. The initiative presented the state’s industrial capabilities and technical talent to more than 70 companies and institutions. Strategic meetings were held with suppliers of major technology firms, including over 20 companies from Wistron, 25 from Pegatron, and 20 from Wiwynn. Data indicates that between 2021 and the second quarter of 2026, Taiwan accounted for 5.7 percent of Chihuahua’s accumulated foreign direct investment, totaling $401.7 million. These investments have primarily focused on computer system design services (58.4 percent), electronic component manufacturing (22 percent), and the production of computers and peripheral equipment (17.3 percent).
