Authorities in Croatia have apprehended multiple foreign nationals suspected of filming nude children at tourist locations. In late July, a 61-year-old Polish man was detained in the Dubrovnik-Neretva region after citizens reported him photographing children on Prapratno beach. Police confiscated digital devices for forensic analysis and noted the suspect had a previous conviction for a similar offense in 2007. By early August, police in Istria arrested a 58-year-old Swiss national and a 30-year-old Russian national. The Swiss national was observed filming children at a tourist facility and attempted to flee before being caught, while the Russian national was intercepted by security personnel at a swimming pool area. In both cases, authorities recovered material suspected of being related to child pornography exploitation. On August 27, Istrian police detained a 53-year-old Italian citizen suspected of filming naked children at a local campsite. The suspect allegedly used a camera concealed within a wristwatch to record children. The incident was detected after a security guard noticed suspicious behavior. Upon inspection, police discovered incriminating material, and the individual was charged with child pornography exploitation. Authorities noted that Croatia recorded 452 cases of child pornography exploitation last year, with many incidents occurring during the summer at beaches and swimming areas. Police have urged parents to remain vigilant in public spaces.
