Efforts to support child welfare and neurodevelopmental needs have expanded in Cuba and Mexico. Initial initiatives focused on specialized medical and social support, including scientific research on pediatric rehabilitation and autism diagnosis at the Rosa Luxemburgo Neurodevelopmental Center in Cuba, alongside community awareness events like charity fashion shows in Mexico. Subsequent developments have shifted toward establishing physical infrastructure for protection. Mexico announced the creation of a new Child Assistance Center featuring specialized departments for psychology, social work, and adolescent mothers. Similarly, Cuba has prepared its first urgent shelter in Sancti SpĂritus to provide transitory care for minors facing abandonment or emergencies, with facilities designed to facilitate case evaluations and potential family reintegration. In Mexico, the Centro Estatal Poblano de Salud Mental Integral (CEPOSAMI) has demonstrated significant operational growth during its first year in Puebla. The center has provided over 22,000 specialized mental health services to children, adolescents, and their families. To meet rising demand, the facility expanded from 14 to 24 consultation rooms and increased its staff from 36 to 69 members. Monthly service volume grew from 416 cases in its inaugural month to 1,751 by August 2026. Beyond clinical care for issues such as depression and self-harming behaviors, the center has conducted mental health training sessions across 152 municipalities.
