Chile is implementing economic reforms through the National Reconstruction Law under the administration of José Antonio Kast. The government aims to stimulate growth by reducing taxes, cutting regulations, and increasing legal certainty for investors to address a period of economic stagnation where annual growth fell to 1.1% since 2014. Following the Senate's approval of the National Reconstruction Law, Biminister of Economy and Mining Daniel Mas defended the legislation following a Constitutional Court resolution. Mas stated the law aims to address the effects of recent storms while stimulating economic reactivation. He emphasized that tax stability is crucial for attracting long-term investments, particularly in the mining sector, which requires certainty for multi-decade projects. Mas expects the injection of reconstruction resources to generate between 120,000 and 150,000 new jobs. Finance Minister Jorge Quiroz has expressed optimism regarding these reforms, noting previously noted that the effective fiscal deficit has had dropped from 2.8% to 2.3% of GDP. Projections suggest GDP, with projections suggesting a recovery in the construction sector, with sector and investment growth expected to reach between 7% and 8% next year.
