In early September 2026, the Universidad de Concepción announced that all 4,100 available spots for its in-person Higher Education Access Test (PAES) practice sessions had been filled. These sessions were scheduled for September 26 and 27 across the Concepción, Chillán, and Los Ángeles campuses, covering subjects such as Reading Competence, Mathematics, History, and Science. By late September, these practice sessions were conducted with more than 4,000 students participating. This activity occurred alongside other educational initiatives in Chile, such as INACAP Temuco’s ‘INACAP Abierto’ event, as institutions worked to assist students with higher education transitions and program information. On September 28, the University of Talca expanded these outreach efforts by hosting an open house at its Linares Campus for high school students from the southern Maule region. The event introduced students to various pedagogy programs, including specialties in mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, English, and early childhood education, with the goal of providing information on academic benefits and employability. Concurrently, the Universidad de Concepción completed its first round of PAES practice exams across its three campuses. At the Chillán Campus, 800 students participated in the simulation, which is designed to mimic official national university admission test conditions to provide students with feedback before year-end examinations.
