Chile is implementing new institutional and practical frameworks to address environmental challenges, including climate change, biodiversity loss, and water insecurity. The Institute for Agricultural Development (INDAP) has launched its 2026-2030 Strategy, which focuses on modernizing rural development through decentralization and prioritizing regional needs. In the Ñuble region, these strategic goals are being applied through the Sustainable Agriculture Transition (TAS) program. Led by INIA and INDAP, this initiative assists producers in the Ninhue and Trehuaco communes by implementing agroecological management of soil and water, enhancing biodiversity, and improving water efficiency to ensure long-term agricultural sustainability. The TAS program recently concluded its first year of implementation, involving 74 producers. A regional meeting held at INIA Quilamapu focused on technical areas such as biological control, the production of bioinputs, and the role of pollinating insects. Researcher María Esperanza Sepúlveda noted that the program aims to provide farmers with technical knowledge “tailored to their specific territories to ensure long-term sustainability.”
