In the second quarter of 2026, the PC market in mainland China underwent a structural shift toward commercial and enterprise products. While overall consumer demand faced challenges, PC shipments in the region grew 11% year-over-year to 11.4 million units. This growth was largely driven by a 29% rise in the commercial segment, supported by large enterprise and government procurement related to the XinChuang initiative. Conversely, the consumer segment experienced a decline, with total PC consumer market shipments falling 2.2% year-on-year in the first half of 2026. Despite these shifts, companies such as Huawei, Lenovo, and AOC increased market shares by focusing on enterprise and high-performance sectors. Huawei, for instance, saw its monitor market share rise to 7.5% due to desktop procurement from government and large enterprise clients. By the third quarter of 2026, the broader global PC market experienced a significant contraction. Shipments fell between 20% and 22.4% according to various research firms, with Gartner reporting 55.4 million units and IDC noting a 20.1% decline. This downturn is attributed to rising costs for DRAM and NAND memory components—driven by high demand from AI data centers—and a shift in corporate spending toward AI-capable workstations rather than standard PCs. While Lenovo remains the market leader, it faced shipment reductions, and HP experienced a decline of approximately 31%.
