Overview

Tensions between Taiwan and China have escalated through increased maritime presence and what Taiwanese authorities describe as “gray zone” tactics.

The Taiwan Coast Guard Administration reported multiple incursions by Chinese vessels near the Kinmen archipelago, characterizing the maneuvers as a “planned harassment operation.” This activity follows a sustained increase in Chinese maritime presence in the Pacific waters east of Taiwan, extending Beijing’s operational reach beyond the traditional Taiwan Strait.
