In late July 2026, Chinese carmaker Jetour launched its T2 XWD 4×4 plug‑in hybrid SUV in Brazil, featuring a 597 hp powertrain and a 43.24 kWh battery. During the same period, BYD expanded its international presence, including road testing the Atto 2 SUV in India and introducing the Atto 2 as an affordable sub-compact plug-in hybrid in Brunei. BYD also unveiled its new-generation ATTO series in Nepal at the NAIMA Mobility Expo 2026, showcasing the ATTO 1, ATTO 2, and a refreshed ATTO 3 featuring the “Dynamic Dragon Face” design. In August 2026, BYD continued its expansion and technological diversification. The company prepared to unveil functional humanoid robots at its Di Space showroom in China, with Executive Vice-President Stella Li noting that the company would leverage its battery and manufacturing expertise to scale these robots. In the New Zealand market, BYD scheduled its largest shipment to date for late August, consisting of 2,750 electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles arriving in Auckland. This shipment, which includes models such as the Atto 3 Evo, the Shark 6 Performance ute, and the upcoming Atto 2 DM-i, is intended to clear a customer order backlog caused by shipping constraints in China since April. By mid-August 2026, BYD further extended its Asian footprint. The ATTO 2, a compact SUV designed for urban environments and mechanical parking structures, was spotted in Yokohama, Japan, ahead of a planned launch as a plug-in hybrid alongside the Seal 6 station wagon at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January 2026. Additionally, the ATTO 1, an all-electric compact hatchback built on the e-Platform 3.0, debuted in Hong Kong. Positioned as an entry-level model in the Ocean series, the ATTO 1 features a 38.88 kWh Blade Battery and an NEDC range of 380 km.
