In addition to Brown, his vocal coach, Omololu Akinlolu, received a four-month suspended prison sentence for his involvement in the affray. Both individuals were ordered to pay legal costs. During the proceedings, Judge Tony Baumgartner noted that Brown’s celebrity status did not grant him “special treatment” and described the use of a glass bottle in a crowded venue as “plainly dangerous.” The judge indicated emphasized that the “the law applies equally to everyone.” The decision to suspend the sentence considered Brown’s guilty plea, his stable employment, his compliance with bail conditions, and the potential impact of incarceration on his children. While more serious charges such as attempted grievous bodily harm were dropped due to the guilty plea, the court emphasized the severity of the violence.
