Holiday festivities and seasonal traditions are scheduled to begin across several Danish cities in mid-November 2026. In Copenhagen, celebrations include the illumination of the iconic Christmas lights at Kongens Nytorv at Hotel d’Angleterre on November 13. Additionally, the bar Centralhjørnet is preparing its annual elaborate decorations, following a theme of ‘it can never be too much’ with an annual expenditure of approximately 100,000 DKK. Seasonal attractions in the capital also include Christmas markets at Gammeltorv, Rådhuspladsen, and Højbro Plads, the holiday transformation of Tivoli Gardens, and festivities at Bakken in Klampenborg. Other regional activities include the opening of the traditional Christmas market at Gammeltorv in Aalborg on November 13, which will run through December 23. In Odense, the lighting of the large Christmas tree at Flakhaven is set for November 14, featuring musical performances and a parade. Further seasonal preparations include SPAR celebrating its tenth anniversary of providing free Christmas bus transport. For December 22, the company has scheduled 43 routes and over 140 stops to assist citizens in traveling to their families.
