Productos Nevada, a Panamanian subsidiary of the Dos Pinos cooperative, has implemented several sustainability and circular economy initiatives. The company reported replacing approximately 60 million plastic straws with biodegradable alternatives and achieving a 21% reduction in plastic used for screw caps in 2025. Community efforts in the Bugaba district involved over 4,000 students in recycling projects, while coastal cleanups recovered roughly 10 tons of waste. Subsequent reporting indicates that the company recovered 1,220 tons of post-consumer waste last year—primarily plastics, aluminum, and Tetra Pak packaging—representing a 5.1% increase in recovery compared to the previous year. This effort prevented the equivalent of approximately 180 collection trucks of waste from entering landfills. This recovery of 1,220 tons of post-consumer waste, largely consisting of plastics, is part of the company’s broader 2030 circular economy goals. In Argentina, regional recycling and sanitation efforts continue. The GIRO Classification Plant in Olavarría reported a 41% increase in recyclable material recovery during the first eight months of 2026, totaling 183,253 kilograms. In Villa La Angostura, authorities reported the sale of nearly 15 tons of recovered materials, including aluminum, cardboard, and various plastics. Other municipal actions include a ferrous waste decontamination plan in Río Grande and the compaction and recycling of over 600 abandoned vehicles in Río Gallegos to mitigate pollution.
