Citroën is focusing on its ‘Citroën Advanced Comfort’ philosophy to address the physical and mental exhaustion caused by long-distance travel. This approach aims to reduce the physiological load on passengers by utilizing specialized suspensions, ergonomic seating, and acoustic insulation to mitigate road vibrations and environmental stimuli. The technology addresses how the body remains active during trips, as muscles perform constant micro-corrections to maintain stability while the brain processes continuous stimuli like noise and temperature changes. Specific applications of this technology are seen in the second-generation Citroën C5 Aircross. Built on the Stellantis STLA Medium platform, platform and assembled in Rennes, France, this hybrid C-segment SUV incorporates Advanced Comfort seats with high-density foam and a Progressive Hydraulic Cushion (PHC) suspension system. The vehicle also emphasizes interior modularity and spaciousness to enhance passenger comfort during extended trips. In addition to ergonomic improvements, the new C5 Aircross utilizes an ‘Aerodesign’ philosophy to optimize aerodynamics, achieving an SCx coefficient of 0.75. This engineering focus aims to reduce drag and increase electric driving range by approximately 30 km. In certain markets, such as Japan, the model features a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo hybrid powertrain paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). Similar comfort-focused design principles are also being applied to models like the new C3 Aircross to optimize posture and cabin environment for families.
