Civitavecchia is undertaking various urban, environmental, and social initiatives. The local administration has launched tenders for the redevelopment of a former cement factory as part of the ‘Civitas Futura’ plan. This project, supported by the Lazio region, involves a total estimated value of 300 million euros and aims to create an eight-hectare public park, hospitality structures, a shopping center, and extensive parking facilities. In a separate social and environmental effort, the “Un Mare di Inclusione – Ogni goccia conta” project was hosted in the city. Promoted by Ambiente Mare Italia, the initiative brought together students, volunteers, and people with disabilities for marine ecosystem education and beach cleanups. Participants engaged in activities led by experts to learn about marine ecosystems, the impact of plastic pollution, and coastal protection. Italian Minister for Disabilities Alessandra Locatelli noted that “inclusion is built by creating concrete opportunities for encounter, relationship, and full participation.”
