New York Yankees pitcher Clarke Schmidt experienced right biceps cramping while warming up during a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on September 21. At the time, Schmidt described the sensation as a “cramping-type feeling” and noted that testing showed no structural problems with his shoulder or elbow. By September 24, the Yankees placed Schmidt on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to September 21, citing right bicep neuritis. Manager Aaron Boone noted that while the injury does not appear to be long-term, Schmidt has struggled to progress to the necessary level of readiness. This setback follows Schmidt’s recent return from Tommy John surgery. The injury is expected to sideline him for the upcoming Wild Card Series. To replace him on the roster, the team recalled right-handed reliever Bradley Hanner from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Additionally, pitcher Brendan Beck was optioned to the Florida Complex League following a doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles.
