Overview

Cloudflare has introduced new security technologies aimed at managing risks associated with artificial intelligence and automated threats.

In early August, the company began a private beta for WriteGuard, a feature designed to safeguard AI agent write actions. By assigning risk tiers to tools within the Model Context Protocol, WriteGuard allows developers to allow, modify, or block operations to prevent unintended data deletion or sensitive data alteration. The system provides audit logs and ensures agents do not exceed the authority of their human users.

By late August, Cloudflare expanded its security offerings with the launch of Adaptive Intelligence. This continuous detection engine, integrated into its Bot Management platform, uses machine learning to analyze global network signals. It is designed to combat sophisticated, automated cyberattacks, such as credential stuffing and web scraping, by autonomously generating real-time security rules to create a ‘moving target’ for attackers.
