Clásico RCN 2026 cycling competition

Overview

The 2026 Clásico RCN cycling race in Colombia concluded with Javier Jamaica of the NU Colombia team securing the overall title in Medellín. The victory marks the most significant achievement of the 30-year-old climber’s professional career.

Jamaica’s championship run was bolstered by a dominant performance during the seventh stage, a 122.6-kilometer mountain route from Supía to La Estrella. After breaking away on the ascent of Alto de Minas, Jamaica finished the stage in approximately 3 hours and 7 minutes, allowing him to take the general classification lead from teammate Camilo Ardila. The NU Colombia squad achieved a podium sweep on that stage, with Ardila finishing second and Rodrigo Contreras third.

In the final stage of the competition, Rodrigo Contreras of NU Colombia claimed victory. The 67th edition of the race also recognized several emerging talents, including 19-year-old Michael Moreno of the EBSA team, who was named the best rookie. Felipe Bravo of GW Erco Sportfitness won the special sprints classification, while David Sebastián Riaño of Team Boyacá es Para Vivirla finished third in the U-23 category.

Earlier in the race, Wilmar Andrés Paredes of Team Medellín won the opening 182.9-kilometer stage from Mosquera to Zipaquirá via a sprint, despite a mass crash involving several riders. The competition also saw the withdrawal of defending Vuelta a Colombia champion Diego Camargo, who was forced to abandon after a fall caused by oil on the road during the sixth stage.
