An extratropical cyclone in the Atlantic has introduced cold, dry air masses to southern Brazil, causing significant temperature drops. In Paraná, minimum temperatures in the southern half have fallen below 10°C, with some areas reaching as low as 2°C or 5°C, creating a frost risk for the newly sown soybean season. The National Institute of Meteorology (INMET) has warned of possible light frost in the Center-South of Paraná and northern Santa Catarina. In the Serra Catarinense region, temperatures have dropped further, with Morro da Igreja recording a minimum of −0.5°C and São Joaquim reaching 1.4°C. In the South, minimum temperatures in higher elevations of the Serra Gaúcha and Catarinense regions may approach 0°C. As weather patterns reorganize, a combination of advancing cold fronts and a new moisture channel is shifting conditions across the country. While the South and Southeast continue to be impacted by cold air masses—with high-altitude areas in Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul potentially approaching 0°C—increased precipitation and thunderstorms are emerging in other regions. In the North, North and Northeast, instability is affecting Acre, Rondônia, causing thunderstorms in states such as Amazonas, Roraima, Pará, and Tocantins, Maranhão, Piauí, and Bahia, with temperatures in Teresina reaching up to 38°C in Palmas. 39°C. The Northeast is seeing isolated thunderstorms in Maranhão, Piauí, and Bahia, including Salvador. Meanwhile, the Central-West Center-West continues to experience showers isolated thunderstorms in Mato Grosso, Goiás, and the Distrito Federal. In the South and Southeast, cold, dry air masses continue to drive down temperatures. While high-altitude areas in Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul may approach 0°C, the Southeast is experiencing a mix of conditions, including thunderstorms in Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, and Rio de Janeiro, while parts of São Paulo see milder temperatures and decreasing cloud cover.
