Colombia earthquake: Brazil offers humanitarian aid after 7.4 magnitude tremor

Following a powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Colombia, Brazilian President Lula da Silva has expressed condolences to the Colombian people and offered government assistance.

Official data released by Colombian authorities on August 10 indicates the earthquake resulted in 111 deaths and 87 injuries. The disaster caused significant infrastructure damage, including the collapse of 61 buildings and 37 residences, as well as damage to six airports and 1,575 homes. A state of emergency has been declared in Colombia as search and rescue operations continue.

The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement confirming that Brazil is closely monitoring the situation and is prepared to cooperate with Colombian authorities to provide emergency relief within its capabilities.
