Higher education in Colombia has seen various initiatives focused on admissions, accreditation, and expanded access. In late August, the Universidad del Cauca held information sessions to promote educational inclusion for high school graduates in the Pacific region and Patía, specifically targeting Afro-Colombian populations. During the same period, the Universidad de Nariño underwent an external evaluation by the National Accreditation Council for its Graphic Design program. By late September, efforts to increase accessibility continued. The Cundinamarca government expanded its ‘Cundinamarca Más Profesional’ program, adding 1,500 beneficiaries to a scheme where ‘the one who graduates does not pay.’ This expansion brings the total to 8,600 students supported across 116 municipalities. Additionally, the Universidad Nacional de Colombia conducted admission exams for the first semester of 2027, with nearly 40,000 2027. Approximately 39,397 applicants competing competed for 5,612 undergraduate spots, including international candidates from 23 different nationalities. various countries, with high concentrations of applicants located in Bogotá, Medellín, and Manizales.
