The Colombian military has engaged in operations targeting the logistics and tactics of various armed groups. On October 6, the National Army conducted two separate operations: seizing 1,100 gallons of fuel linked to the Autodefensas Conquistadores de la Sierra (ACS) in Ciénaga, and intercepting a vehicle carrying approximately 400 kilograms of suspected C4 plastic explosive in Cauca. On October 8, the security situation in Cauca escalated when an explosive-laden vehicle was abandoned near the Batallón de Montaña N. ° 8 in Miranda. Two of Of the eight explosive devices within the vehicle vehicle, two detonated outside the military installation. Authorities attributed the attack to the Dagoberto Ramos Structure, a FARC dissident faction. While no injuries or facility damage were reported, the incident placed hundreds of put more than 300 residents and passersby at risk. The Army condemned the use of explosives and called on human rights organizations to address actions that expose civilian populations to danger. On October 19, the Army’s 29th Brigade discovered explosive devices hidden under a sewer grate along the Pan-American Highway in Cauca, specifically in a transit corridor between the Piedra Sentada district and the El Bordo toll booth. Preliminary information suggests these explosives may belong to the Carlos Patiño structure of the FARC dissidents, operating under the command of alias ‘Iván Mordisco’. Authorities closed the highway to all traffic to allow specialized teams to neutralize the devices and prevent casualties among civilians and troops.
