Commemoration of Thich Pho Tue in Hanoi

Overview

In late October 2026, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (GHPGVN) and various Buddhist followers gathered at the Vien Minh Ancestral Temple in Rang Pagoda, Hanoi, to mark the fifth anniversary of the passing of Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue.

The ceremonies included the chanting of the Ksitigarbha Sutra, incense offerings, and traditional rituals to honor the late Third President of the GHPGVN. High-ranking monastic leaders, such as Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon, and government representatives from the Vietnam Fatherland Front attended the events.

Participants honored Thich Pho Tue’s 105-year life and 85 years of monastic practice, noting his contributions to translating scriptures, preserving Buddhist traditions, and his dedication to both the religion and the nation.
