The 90th anniversary of Bulgarian opera bass and painter Nikola Gyuzelev has been marked by personal celebration and public commemoration. Following the milestone of his 90th birthday, the town of Pavlikeni, his birthplace, organized a commemorative event in partnership with the Nikola Gyuzelev Foundation and the local municipality. To honor his legacy, the Pavlikeni Historical Museum unveiled a commemorative plaque and established a permanent corner dedicated to his dual talents in music and visual arts. The museum also received a donation of original paintings, reproductions, books, and a musical disc from the foundation. Further commemorations include a concert titled ‘Portrait of a Voice – 90 Years of Nikola Gyuzelev’, scheduled for October 16, 2026, at the ‘Brotherhood-1884’ community center in Pavlikeni. This event is part of a national project by the Boris Hristov Foundation to preserve the legacy of the Maestro, who performed at venues such as La Scala and the Vienna State Opera. The concert will be hosted by the Maestro’s daughter, Adriana Gyuzeleva, and will feature several prominent Bulgarian opera singers. The celebrations are set to conclude with a jubilee gala concert on November 16, 2026, at the ‘Bulgaria’ Hall in the capital, featuring a symphony orchestra and soloists.
