Commemorations of Gigi Riva in Cagliari

Overview

Events in Cagliari have been organized to honor the life and legacy of football legend Gigi Riva. On November 5, the theatrical production “Giggiriva,” created by Silvano Vargiu, was scheduled to perform at Spazio Off Artisti Fuori Posto as part of the Rotte Creative festival. The show uses music and imagery to explore Riva’s connection to Sardinia and his professional dedication.

Following this, a sold-out celebration was held at the Teatro Lirico on November 6 to mark what would have been Riva’s 82nd birthday. The event featured a presentation of a volume by the Istituto della Enciclopedia Treccani from its ‘Miti Italiani’ series, alongside musical performances and testimonies regarding his career, including the 1970 Scudetto victory and his achievements with the Italian national team.
