Commemorations for Mother Teresa have taken place in Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia, marking her birth anniversary and her legacy of service. In Albania, Professor Skender Asani utilized her legacy as a call for unity among Albanians. He described her life as a “moral testament” and suggested her philosophy of prioritizing humanity over conflict could serve as a model for addressing contemporary political and social divisions within Albanian-speaking territories. In Kosovo, the Diocese of Prizren-Prishtina organized a solemn academy in Prishtina to honor the Nobel Peace Prize winner. These events also included cultural reflections on the literary testament of writer Mitrush Kuteli, who emphasized values such as wisdom and kindness. In Skopje, celebrations marked the 116th anniversary of her birth. A government delegation, led by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for European Affairs Bekim Sali, participated in laying flowers at a memorial plaque at her birthplace. A central commemorative event was held at the Museum of Contemporary Art under the patronage of Sali, with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti attending as a guest. To further mark the 10th anniversary of her canonization, the “Days of Saint Mother Teresa” manifestation is scheduled to run from August 26 to September 5. This program includes spiritual, cultural, and humanitarian activities, such as musical performances, poetry evenings, and a charity art exhibition where proceeds will benefit the poor through Macedonian Caritas. The celebrations also feature lectures by Bishop Kiro Stojanov and visits to vulnerable families and religious services at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
