In mid-August 2026, French authorities reported several criminal incidents targeting businesses. In Villefranche-sur-Saône, two 16-year-olds were arrested following an armed robbery at a tobacco shop where an employee was allegedly threatened with a knife. Additionally, in the Lyon area, a repeat offender was incarcerated for a series of burglaries targeting shops and restaurants in Lyon’s 6th arrondissement and Villeurbanne. Officers intercepted the suspects after discovering a hole cut into a garage door with a saw. Concurrently, authorities in Steinsel, Luxembourg, issued public warnings regarding an increase in evening burglaries, advising residents to enhance home security measures to deter multiple suspected perpetrators.
