The reality television program ‘La Granja VIP’ has been marked by several controversies involving contestant conduct and interpersonal conflicts. Initially, former footballer Mario ‘Mono’ Osuna faced accusations of being “machista and misogynistic” from fellow contestant Niurka Marcos. Osuna also faced public backlash and calls for investigation by TV Azteca following allegations of animal mistreatment involving a rescue dog named ‘Tlacoyo’ appearing in social media clips. Following these events, comedian Mónica Escobedo was permanently expelled from the show by host Adal Ramones. The expulsion resulted from a violation of the program’s ‘zero physical contact’ rule during a themed ~~activity,~~ pillow fight, where Escobedo struck Niurka ~~Marcos.~~ Marcos on the back. Escobedo defended the action as a “tate quieto” intended to stop harassment, but production deemed the breach of conduct irrevocable. In a dramatic sixth gala, the competition saw a double departure.
