Following a live broadcast on August 5, 2026, SBT presenter Ratinho faced legal action and public criticism after using a homophobic slur while commenting on singer Tiago Piquilo. SBT president Daniela Beyruti addressed the incident, stating that the network intends to discuss the matter with the presenter. While Beyruti defended Ratinho by attributing his remarks to a generational gap, stating, “I know he doesn't do it out of malice; he comes from a different generation,” she reaffirmed that “For SBT, everyone is accepted and welcome.” In a subsequent broadcast, Ratinho defended himself, claiming his remarks were intended as jokes and asserting that he has never disrespected anyone during his 28-year career. He accused Magalhães Júnior of attempting to gain financial advantage through the legal process.
