The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has finalized the organization and pot distributions for the first round of the 2026/27 Copa del Rey. The tournament features 112 clubs competing in 56 single-match knockout ties, with matches scheduled to take place between October 27 and 29. To minimize travel, the draw organized teams into four regional groups based on geographic proximity. Major La Liga clubs, including Athletic Club, Sevilla FC, Villarreal, and Valencia, are set to face lower-tier opposition. opposition, including teams from the fifth-tier RFEF III. Meanwhile, the four clubs participating in the Spanish Super Cup—Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, and Real Sociedad—are exempt from this initial stage and will advance directly to the round of 32. The draw also highlights the return of the Cádiz CF and Xerez CD derby after 18 years. Other notable matchups include Real Betis against Navalcarnero, Celta de Vigo against Salamanca UDS, and Málaga CF against Sporting de Alcázar. Several clubs have already secured their places following recent qualifying matches, such as UD Pinatar, Emers Sporting, and UE Tavernes de la Valldigna. As per regulations, lower-category clubs will host games provided their facilities meet RFEF requirements, and VAR will not be implemented until the round of 16.
