Copa Paraná 2026 tournament progress

Overview

The Copa Paraná competition saw varying results for Athletico during its 2026 campaign. In late September, Foz do Iguaçu defeated Athletico 1–0 at Estádio do ABC, secured by an ‘olímpico’ goal from Tiba. Despite offensive pressure in the second half, Athletico was unable to overcome the defensive organization of Foz do Iguaçu.

By late October, Athletico advanced to the semifinals of the tournament. Following a 0–0 draw against Londrina at the Vila Olímpica do Boqueirão, Athletico won via a penalty shootout, converting four attempts.

In the first leg of the semifinals at Arena da Baixada, Athletico and Paranavaí played to a 1–1 draw. Paranavaí took an early lead in the first minute through a goal by Robinho following a long pass. While Athletico controlled much of the possession, they struggled against Paranavaí's defense. Guilherme Back eventually secured the equalizer for Athletico by converting a penalty after Nicolás Azambuja was fouled in the area.

The second leg is scheduled for Sunday at the Waldemiro Wagner stadium in Paranavaí. The winner of that series will advance to the final to face the winner of the matchup between Paraná Clube and Foz do Iguaçu.
