In Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, 37-year-old Cláudio Rafael Landeiro Moreira died following a brutal assault after being falsely accused of stealing a bicycle. The victim, who had mental health issues and speech difficulties, was unable to explain that the electric bicycle belonged to his sister. Security footage shows the attack lasted approximately nine minutes and involved kicks, punches, and at least 30 57 blows from a wooden stick or bar. The victim was transported to Hospital Municipal Miguel Couto but succumbed to head trauma and internal bleeding. Footage also revealed that the attackers filmed the victim while he was unconscious. Medical reports have since confirmed the cause of death as traumatic brain injury, internal hemorrhage, and injuries to the spleen and left kidney. ~~Three~~ All four suspects ~~have been detained~~ identified in connection with the ~~death.~~ death have now been arrested.
