The 41st edition of the Coppa degli Assi equestrian competition took place at the ‘Tommaso Lequio di Assaba’ obstacle course in La Favorita, Palermo. Marking its 50th anniversary, the six-day event featured 42 races and 460 entries from ten nations, including Italy, Belgium, France, Germany, England, Malta, Mauritius, Saudi Arabia, Russia, and the United States. Early competition results included victories by Alessio Merluzzi in the CS1* N. 103 H115 circuit and Manfredi Testaverde in the CS1* N. 104 H125 circuit. The event was expected to generate approximately four million euros in local economic impact. The competition concluded with the Gran Premio Regione Siciliana, a CSI3* event. Organized by the Sicilian Region and the Municipality of Palermo, with support from the Italian Ministry of Sport, Fieracavalli, the Italian Army, and the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation, the ceremony saw Sicilian Regional President Renato Schifani presented present the award to winner Luca Coata. Schifani, noting the event’s role in promoting Sicily’s international image, addressed the need to improve spectator facilities and announced plans to install temporary shade structures for spectators attendees starting next year.
