In other regions, Silver Mountain Resources is evaluating an early restart of the Caudalosa mine in Huancavelica following high-grade drilling results that exceeded initial expectations. The company reported that its drilling program identified mineralized intervals in several veins, including the Paulinita vein, where one drill hole intercepted 3.30 meters with 569 grams of silver per tonne, 3.11% copper, and 0.99% zinc. CEO Álvaro Espinoza stated that the company is investigating whether mineralization extends beyond historical resource estimates. Southern Copper continues to progress with the Michiquillay copper project in Cajamarca. This Cajamarca, a US$ 2.5 billion project is currently undergoing resource estimation, classification, and engineering studies for tailings storage, with production expected to commence production in 2032 following 2032. The company is also analyzing a six-year construction period. proposed US$ 680 million investment to expand processing capacity at the Cuajone mine in southern Peru. This plan aims to increase daily grinding capacity from 90,000 to 120,000 tons, potentially yielding an additional 55,000 tons of copper and 1,400 tons of molybdenum annually. A larger-scale alternative reaching 150,000 tons per day is also under consideration, with a final decision expected in early 2027.
