Corporate short interest fluctuations

During July, various corporations reported significant shifts in short interest.

Initial reports indicated substantial declines for the Neuberger Berman High Yield Strategies Fund and Nuveen California Municipal Va, alongside decreases for Acerinox and Rallybio Corporation. Conversely, IRSA Inversiones Y Representaciones S. A. experienced a 209.5% increase in short interest.

Subsequent data showed mixed results across other firms. AB SKF reported a 62.6% increase in short interest, while Terumo Corp., Denso Corp., Fresenius SE & Co., and Nutanix all saw significant declines. These movements coincided with mixed earnings results, where AB SKF and Terumo Corp. exceeded estimates, while Denso Corp. and Fresenius SE & Co. missed them.

More recent updates show continued volatility in short interest. Broadway Financial Corporation saw a 57.2% rise, while Domo Inc. faced downward pressure with increasing short interest and a consensus rating of ‘Reduce’ from analysts.

In the technology and healthcare sectors, Terumo Corp., Denso Corp., Fresenius SE & Co., and Nutanix maintained downward trends in short interest, with declines ranging from 40.6% to 52%. Additionally, the Global X Lithium & Battery Tech ETF rose 1.34% amid conflicting 2026 lithium supply projections regarding potential surpluses or deficits.
