The 2026 Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP) season commenced at the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) in Ciudad Victoria, Mexico. The inaugural series featured the Correbasket UAT team playing against Santos del Potosí. Following the season opening, Correbasket UAT engaged in a split series against Freseros de Irapuato. Freseros de Irapuato won the first game 99-96 after overcoming a 15-point deficit, while Correbasket UAT won the second game 86-83. Following these results, Freseros de Irapuato moved to 12th place in the standings. Correbasket UAT has announced plans to host two official series outside of its home base in Ciudad Victoria to promote sports and university identity. The first series is scheduled for August 24 and 25 in Tampico against Soles de Mexicali at the university campus's multidisciplinary gymnasium. The second series will take place in Reynosa on September 20 and 21 against Fuerza Regia de Monterrey, marking the return of professional league games to the northern border region. UAT officials stated that the gymnasiums in both locations meet all LNBP standards and requirements, and Correbasket UAT will maintain its status as the home team for both series.
