Legal proceedings have reached a final stage for former Entre Ríos Governor Sergio Urribarri, former Minister of Culture and Communication Pedro Ángel Báez, and Juan Pablo Aguilera. Following the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation’s decision to reject an extraordinary federal appeal, the 2022 sentences have been made final. As a result of this ruling, the three defendants have been transferred to the El Potrero prison in Gualeguaychú to serve their convictions. Urribarri is serving an eight-year sentence, while Báez and Aguilera are serving six years and six months each. The sentences involve peculation and incompatible negotiations related to the redirection of official advertising contracts between 2010 and 2015. In a related development within the same ‘Contratos Truchos’ investigation, Alejandro Luis José Almada, the brother-in-law of Juan Pablo Aguilera, is facing legal proceedings.
