Cosmin OlÝroiu Olăroiu management of Al Jazira

Romanian manager Cosmin Olăroiu began his tenure with UAE Pro League club Al Jazira in July 2026. Following a pre-season camp in the Netherlands that included several friendly matches and the signing of Bosnian defender Nermin Mujkic, the club faced an early exit from the Asian Champions League after a 1-4 defeat against Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad. This loss resulted in the team competing in the AFC Champions League 2 instead of the primary competition. Olăroiu subsequently secured his first domestic league victory with a 2-0 away win against Hatta, featuring goals from Simon Banza and Ali Al Memari. The manager, who has previously managed several prominent Emirati clubs including Al Ain, Sharjah, and Shabab Al Ahli, stated that the club’s “objectives and professional vision” were key factors in his decision to join the project. Following that initial win, Olăroiu led Al Jazira to a streak of four consecutive victories in the UAE league. The run included a 3-1 comeback win against Al Ahli Dubai on September 5. Despite conceding a goal in the second minute and facing extreme heat of approximately 40 degrees Celsius, the team overturned the deficit. Olăroiu noted the physical difficulty of the match, citing the prevalence of cramps among the squad due to the weather conditions.
