Following the closure of the Via Cadorna bridge, the Crema municipal administration initially approved an executive project for a new overpass. Mayor Fabio Bergamaschi described the overpass as the “most rapid and innovative solution” to restore city access, with construction slated for late 2026. By late October, the city shifted focus toward the installation of a 101-meter modular metal temporary bridge over the Serio River. This €2.88 million extraordinary plan aims to restore connections between the city center and the San Bernardino and Castelnuovo districts. The temporary structure will feature a 3.67-meter roadway with one-way traffic toward the city center for vehicles under 3.5 tons and a 30 km/h speed limit. Pedestrians will be prohibited from using the bridge. This interim solution is intended to remain in place until permanent infrastructure repairs are conducted next summer. As of late October, preliminary works for the temporary bridge have initiated. To manage the resulting traffic disruptions and increased passenger demand, the city is reorganizing the K602 bus line. Effective November 2, morning services for the San Bernardino, Castelnuovo, and Vergonzana areas will double. The updated schedule includes a dedicated run from Castelnuovo and a separate service for San Bernardino and Vergonzana to improve connection speeds and capacity to the city center.
