Crime and police investigations in Karachi

Police in Karachi have conducted several investigations into violent incidents involving fatalities and robberies.

In late August, authorities arrested a driver following a high-speed collision near Gadap City that killed a 50-year-old man and his 9-year-old grandson. During the same period, separate incidents were reported involving the fatal shooting of a vegetable vendor during a robbery attempt and a shooting in the Malir Al-Falah area that led to the arrest of four individuals.

By late September, police reported the arrest of two suspects, Dilawar (alias Tariq) and Muhammad Rizwan (alias Asif), in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Rosham Hussain. The victim was shot and killed on the night of September 7-8 during a robbery at a home in Mehran City, Manghopir. The victim, who had recently completed his matriculation exams, was the only brother among eight sisters.

The suspects were allegedly involved in house robberies while wearing fake police uniforms and were identified by a victim from a separate robbery case. Following the murder, the victim’s family staged a prolonged sit-in outside the Manghopir police station, refusing to bury the teenager until those responsible were apprehended. The suspects have been handed over to the Specialized Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Sindh Police for further investigation. In response to the incident and rising crime, the Manghopir Station House Officer was previously suspended by authorities.
