Crime and security in Mineral de la Reforma

Crime and security concerns have been highlighted in Mineral de la Reforma, Hidalgo. An initial report detailed a violent robbery against a woman in the 11 de Julio neighborhood, which was captured on surveillance video. The incident led to local calls for increased police presence and patrols due to a growing perception of insecurity.

Following these concerns, security forces conducted operations in the area. On Santa Rita Avenue in the Rinconadas de los Ángeles neighborhood, police arrested a 27-year-old individual for possession of 8.2 grams of a synthetic substance known as ‘crystal’, consisting of 27 doses, along with an annotated notebook. In a separate incident on the same road, authorities intercepted a 27-year-old operating a gray 2025 model motorcycle without license plates; a records check confirmed the vehicle had an active theft report.

More recently, the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Attorney General's Office of the State of Hidalgo (PGJEH) conducted arrests in the Parque de los Encinos neighborhood for alleged drug trafficking. One suspect, identified as R. G. T., was found with nearly one hundred paper wrappers of a white crystalline substance resembling crystal meth, marijuana, a firearm, cash, and a gram scale. A second suspect, A. A. C. O., was found with various wrappers of crystal meth and three plastic bags containing pink, yellow, and white substances suspected to be methamphetamines, as well as a firearm recovered from a green backpack. Both detainees have been placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry.

In a broader coordinated effort by the Gabinete de Seguridad involving the National Guard and the Mexican Army, security forces in Mineral de la Reforma apprehended two individuals for the alleged sale of narcotics and possession of firearms.
