Recent developments include the arrest of seven individuals in Naviraí, Mato Grosso do Sul, suspected of drug trafficking, criminal association, and torture after a 24-year-old woman escaped captivity. In a cross-border operation, a suspected leader of a criminal faction was arrested in Asunción, Paraguay, in a joint effort involving the Mato Grosso Civil Police, the Paraguayan National Police, and the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Judicial rulings have also seen significant sentencing. In Chapadinha, two individuals were convicted for the execution of Marcos Gabriel Viana de Oliveira, a crime allegedly motivated by a social media video.
