Criminal activity in Germany, Luxembourg, and Switzerland

In mid-September 2026, Germany experienced a series of burglaries and thefts across several regions. Reported incidents included the theft of construction equipment in Winden, a vehicle and coffee machine stolen from a clubhouse in Löffingen-Unadingen, and break-ins at a holiday park in Medebach, a gambling hall in Metelen, and a hair salon in Wolfsburg. By late September, reports of criminal activity expanded to include more violent incidents and arson. In the Wesermarsch district, authorities noted vehicle thefts and arson that damaged a shed and vehicles. Violence was also reported in Bremen, where an 18-year-old was seriously injured during a knife attack, and in Lübeck, involving a man threatening a couple with a kitchen knife. Additionally, incidents were reported in Luxembourg, including a fight involving an iron bar at a train station and large-scale police alcohol checkpoints.

On September 24, further violent incidents were documented in Germany. In Hildesheim, a 43-year-old man was arrested after a knife attack on a 27-year-old acquaintance, requiring the victim to undergo emergency surgery. In Lübeck, a 35-year-old man was detained for threatening a couple with a kitchen knife in a supermarket parking lot while intoxicated. In Eschborn, a 20-year-old was arrested for attacking and insulting police officers. Other reports included a theft and unauthorized movement of equipment at a construction site in Wittmund, as well as a multi-vehicle accident on the B9 in Koblenz.

By September 25, a wave of burglaries and attempted break-ins was also reported in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen, involving thefts of electronics, tools, and valuables from businesses and private residences. In Germany, a series of vehicle thefts occurred in Birkenfeld during the night of September 24-25, where perpetrators targeted parked cars, resulting in estimated damages in the lower six-figure Euro range.
